About Us

Nepal – Austria Friendship Association was established in 2001 in Kathmandu. It is registered with the Government of Nepal. Currently, it has one Branch at Narayangarh, which is called THE CHITWAN CHAPTER of NEPAL – AUSTRIA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION. The Association will expand gradually through more branches ( extension) at various feasible places of Nepal.
We live in the age of internationalism. The world has become small with gradual advancement of science and technology – specially the information technology ( IT). In today’s world, we will grow more and develop positively only through more and more interactions (internally and externally). This Association has been established, basically, with a view to have such interactions between peoples of two landlocked countries ( with wide differences as regards location, history, development and culture). We promote Nepalese culture and society versus Austrian development and unique history; and coordinate to do small scale charity and development work in Nepal.
First of all, we emphasize on friendship between people of two countries, and between people interested towards the cause of sharing of all relevant aspects of two countries – one a very rich country of the world with all the good aspects of development and another a poor country with breath-taking natural beauty and un-harnessed natural resources.
Secondly, many Nepalese students are going abroad for higher education owing to the fact that the degrees they earn there are more recognizable worldwide and thus very valuable for their careers. However, out-going students are not going to Austria for further education due to lack of knowledge on Austria’s education system and degrees. Our Association intends to focus on the many educational facilities available at Austria by organizing educational promotion programs and talk programs so that more percentage of outgoing students are diverted towards Austria.
Thirdly, Nepal is a very beautiful place for tourism. Its unique beauty has no match in the world. Tourists from many countries of the world have placed Nepal on top of their list of favorite places of tourism. Austria is one developed country many people of which have a regular habit of going out for tourism. We feel that systematic and regular promotion of Nepalese tourism in Austria with modern technological approach will attract such nature-loving tourists to Nepalese places of natural greatness.
Thus, Members of the association organize Dasain and Tihar parties on September-November and Nepalese New Year that takes place usually in April. The association plans to have both Austrian and Nepalese members.

’New Nepal’l is our information booklet, issued two or three times a year and sent to members as paper copies. The booklet gives you current information about Nepal, important recent highlighting information on Austria and activities concerning Nepalese culture in Austria and in Nepal.
